Loudon Machine, Inc. is an 18-year-old company that specializes in Harris-Sheridan-Heidelberg saddle stitch equipment and parts. Established in 1982, with the owner having 17 years previous machining experience, 10 years bindery experience, and influenced by the close proximity of two of the world’s dominant printing companies, Loudon quickly matured into what has become the leading supplier of remanufactured bindery equipment for the printing industry. When clients are in need of bindery equipment, Loudon helps them determine whether they should buy used or remanufactured equipment or have their own equipment remanufactured. LMI also sells high quality used equipment and works with customers to locate the equipment they need. “Remanufacturing can save printers tremendous amounts of money over the purchase of new equipment.” According to LMI founder and owner, Peter Brandenburger, “Purchasing a remanufactured machine can save the buyer 35 to 50 percent of the cost of a new model. With some pieces of equipment selling new for 1 million dollars, the purchase of a remanufactured machine can mean significant savings. LMI guarantees all of its remanufactured machines, which have been completely dismantled, inspected, sandblasted, and repainted. All worn parts are replaced all sprockets, bearings, bushings, rod ends, chains and springs are replaced. “Welding a part to fix it is simply out of the question,” said Rod Roetemeyer, shop manager. LMI also purchases, refurbishes, and offers for sale late model and high quality saddle stitchers.
